Bill Etherington - last Keswick Hall Principal
WILLIAM ETHERINGTON personifies Keswick Hall. He has contacts, knowledge and an obvious love for the college and all that it stood for. Bill, who still lives in Norwich, was principal from 1973 to 1981 when he became Dean of the U.E.A. School of Education until 1983. He was Honorary Secretary of the Keswick Hall Trustees until 1998 and continues to be president of the Keswick Hall Old Students' Club.He writes: " I enjoy answering inquires about anything to do with the College, but especially from former students of any vintage and helping them to get in touch with friends or former tutors. Remember, though, that information about anyone is confidential unless the person concerned agrees for it to be passed on. Student course records back to the 1930s are held by the U.E.A. School of Education, so if you need a confidential statement of course details or qualifications to be sent to an employer or a place of study write to The Dean at the School.
The College's formal records are in the Norfolk Record Office. I deposited them there and can tell you what they do, and do not, contain. The Old Students' Club has a register of its members. Former students and staff are welcome to write to me via School of Education and Professional Development, University of East Anglia, Norwich, NR4 7TJ or via the enquiry page of this web site."
