The 1969 -72 Cohort
A few snippets of information about some of the students at the time. We would love to hear from more....CHECKOUT THE GUESTBOOK
Mary Radcliffe
Mary is currently a supply teacher in Leics, married with three children.
Amongst the many happy memories she recalls being in digs in Mulbarton and babysitting for the children of Derek Haylock and Roy Baker. "I also remember starting off the Chapel bell an hour too early and Rev Dick Garrard hurrying across from his house!!"
She taught in Peterborough, then Nottingham. Still teaching in Leicester.
John Illingworth
After years devoted to teaching, John passed away suddenly at home on 28th March 2003. Alex Dyer writes, "He had not been well for some time and had retired from teaching on grounds of ill health, but this was totally unexpected. There was a private cremation on 14th April, to which I went, and then a memorial service on the 15th, which would have been his birthday. Some 300 people were at the church, and I was one of several who spoke about John. ... Most of the people were ringers and teachers with whom John had worked. Norman Bullen was the only other Keswick man at the service."
David Wright says, "John was one of the most positive people I've ever met - always seeing the best in children and in adults. He'll be greatly missed."
Celia Bobin
Celia is head-teacher of a small school in the centre part of Sweden - 122 pupils aged 7-13 yrs. Married with 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
Lesley Stephens
Married with two sons I live near Norwich. I teach mathematics in a large high school in Suffolk.
David North
After leaving teaching in the mid 1990s Dave now lives in Sheringham engaged in pottery, bed and breakfast and wildlife conservation.
Garry Reed
After leaving Keswick Garry taught in Cambridgeshire and Devon. He has been a headteacher in North Devon for twenty two years despite all the changes! He maintains his interest in brass bands (still playing the euphonium - even in assembly at school) and he leads an interdenominational choir.
Lynda Jackson
I am now Lynne Scholefield. I was at Redland High School. Having trained as a secondary RE teacher at Keswick Hall I taught at the Broadland School, Hoveton and The King's School, Ottery St Mary. I am now a university lecturer in Religious Studies in London. Having just celebrated my fiftieth birthday I am interested in reviewing my past and in learning about the lives of people who were at school and college with me and whom I taught. My one contact from Keswick hall is Gwenneth Froggatt with whom I have kept up an intermittent correspondence and we have met once or twice. When I last heard from Lynne she was working in a college in London.
Lynne is now Doctor Scholefield and , we understand, has never given up studying.
Paul Ferrier

Taught at Sileby Junior , now called Redlands. Then up the hill to Highgate Primary Seconded to Hastings High School Burbage in 1984, stayed 17 years teaching P.E. and then everything except the. After teaching mainstream Primary and High School P.E. for 30 years in Leicestershire I'm now teaching at a Severe Learning Difficulty School in Tamworth Staffs. Where I live with my second wife Jayne. and 2 step children.
Ian Scholefield.
I only taught for three years but it wasn't for me. In 1976 I joined the Inland Revenue intending it as a short term job to keep me going whilst I found something long term. I'm still with them 25 years on, and still not sure what I want to do.
I've done a couple of other jobs along the way just for fun. The job I've really enjoyed has been working as a voluntary gate organiser at Glastonbury festival for the last 20 years.
My other passion has always been boating. I still visit Norfolk from time to time to sail the older Broads boats. I currently run a motor boat out of the River Exe visiting along the Devon and Cornwall coasts with occasional trips across the Channel or further afield.
I have lost contact with most people from college. I still exchange Christmas cards with Ros Cheshire (nee Wheeler) and I constantly promise to visit Phil Walker in Suffolk who is the only college friend I have really kept in contact with.
Ian was Student Union Teasurer, before he started to chase people for their money as part of the Inland Revenue!
