6 Oct 2001 - How to contact former students
One of the problems for us, as former members of an institution, which no longer exists, is how to remain in contact and rekindle friendship with former students and members of staff.
For Keswick Hall folk there are two useful methods:
1. Make use of this site - its Guestbook facility and / or Feedback, the latter is particularly useful if you want to send an article about college life, your autobiography etc. Log on regularly and use the E Mail links to communicate with each other. Now that you have found us keep in contact. We plan to publish details of forthcoming reunions and events and act as a notice board for all former Keswickians.
2. Become a member of the Old Students Club, which many students were never made aware of when they were at college.
Perhaps the best system is to do both!
The Keswick Hall Old Students' Club:
David Seddon, the Club Register Secretary, writes:
Founded in 1895 as 'a means of permanent connection with the College, and bond of union amongst past students', the Club's structure has never changed. Its executive is a committee with the Principal as President, charged with holding an annual reunion, until 1981 hosted by the College, and keeping a register of members. Annually it produces a magazine still called 'The College Letter'. The membership is organised into year groups, each with a year secretary, who sends out reunion invitations and College Letters and aims to keep year members in touch. Currently there are 51 year groups and over 450 members.
In 1927 a benevolent fund was started to help Old Students who had fallen on hard times. By 1980 it was known as the Fellowship Fund and became a registered charity. Gifts are sent after confidential recommendations from members.
The Norwich Reunion is now held on the LATE May Bank Holiday Saturday at UEA. Regional reunions attended by the President, often with other members of staff, were for many years held in several places and the London Reunion takes place at Christ Church, Blackfriars Road on the second Saturday in October.
The costs of the club are met by annual subscription, currently £5 which covers, amongst other things, the cost of the newsletter. This is sent out over the Christmas period. Details of the reunion at the UEA are sent to members in the Spring.
New members are not only very welcome, but are necessary to sustain the Club in future years. Activity on the website and other enquiries show growing demand amongst the later generations of Old Students for news of their contemporise.
If you would like to become a member of the club please send the information below together with a cheque for £5 payable to:
